How grief shows up

Grief after losing a parent isn't just about feeling sadness. It can show up in so many ways:

Emotionally - feeling untethered, anxious about the future, guilty when you experience joy, numb and disconnected, or overwhelmed by waves of emotion that come from nowhere

In your relationships - struggling to let people in, fearing more loss, feeling isolated because your friends still have their parents, or finding it hard to talk about your grief without worrying you're "too much" or you "should be over it by now"

In your identity - questioning who you are without them, feeling like an orphan despite being grown up, losing your sense of direction, or struggling with big life decisions without their guidance

In your daily life - difficulty concentrating, exhaustion, changes in sleep or appetite, avoiding reminders of them, or feeling stuck and unable to move forward

If you can relate, 1:1 counselling could help...

My Approach

As an Integrative Counsellor, I use a blend of different therapeutic approaches. This way of working allows me to draw upon the models and theories that I feel will best meet your needs, meaning our work together will be as unique as you are.

My main approach is Person-Centred, which means you're at the heart of everything we do and our focus is on building a strong therapeutic relationship so that you feel comfortable and safe in sharing what's really on your mind and heart. This is a space for you and we will move at your pace.

I also weave in:

  • Grief tending practices rooted in ritual, nature wisdom, and spiritual connection

  • Breathwork and somatic practices for nervous system regulation

  • Psychodynamic exploration to understand patterns and make sense of your experience

  • A trauma-informed approach that honours exactly where you are

What makes my work different

As a BACP-registered counsellor, I’m equipped to support you with the deeper, more complex impacts of grief following the loss of a parent.

Working with grief is tender, sensitive work, and it’s important that you - and your emotions - are held with care. I offer a contained, nurturing therapeutic space where deeper emotions and experiences can be explored, supported by professional training that allows me to work safely, ethically, and with depth.

How I can support you

Alongside helping you cope with the day-to-day impacts of your loss and offering a space to process your grief, I can also support you with:

Complicated grief - including sudden or traumatic deaths, loss by suicide, deaths involving difficult family dynamics, or multiple losses

The ripple effects of unprocessed grief - when grief shows up as anxiety, depression, disconnection, anger, or difficulty forming close relationships

Long-suppressed grief - grief that hasn’t had space for months or years and is now affecting your ability to move forward in life

Many people come to me after trying other forms of support and feeling like something was still missing. I offer a way of working that sits between traditional talk therapy and grief coaching — combining emotional depth, practical support, body-based awareness, and space to honour your ongoing bond with your parent.

Professional expertise, grounded in lived experience

While my own experience of losing both parents informs my work, it’s my professional training that allows me to support you through the deeper, more challenging aspects of grief. I’m supervised, work within a professional ethical framework, and am committed to ongoing learning and development.

Working with both the mind and the body

Grief is an all-encompassing experience — it affects the body just as much as our thoughts and emotions. Through breathwork and gentle somatic practices, I can help you tend to the physical impact of grief as well as the emotional.

Tending to grief

My training as a grief tending facilitator allows me to bring a different depth to grief work. This includes gentle ritual, reflection, and ways of acknowledging both your grief and your ongoing bond with your parent.

Our work together isn’t about “moving on”. Instead, it’s about learning how to live alongside grief in a way that feels more supportive, connected, and sustainable — while honouring the love that remains.

Working at your pace

Grief counselling isn’t about quick fixes or prescriptive steps. It’s about creating space where your grief can be fully witnessed and held, and where we work collaboratively to support you in ways that feel right for you.
