Grief Tending Circle ~ Samhain
Grief Tending Circle ~ Samhain
Sun 9th November ~ 10am-1pm
About the event
Join me for a grief tending circle in the magical and sacred lands of Avebury. In a world that often asks us to carry grief quietly or alone, this circle offers a warm and compassionate space to honour and hold our grief together. What to expect You will be gently welcomed into the space with breathwork and meditation, followed by group introductions and a short introduction to grief tending. As we will be gathering close to the festival of Samhain, we'll explore how this seasonal threshold can guide us in our grief. Known to be a time where the veil between worlds is at its thinnest, we will take time to honour our wise and well ancestors and the grief we may carry for them too. This sacred time invites us to surrender to the dark half of the year, focusing our energy inwards. We will explore how the cycles of life and death mirror our own journey through grief - finding beauty in the letting go and how sitting within the darkness of our grief can help us appreciate the light. There will be a sharing circle where you'll be invited to express your grief in whatever way feels right for you - whether that's sharing a story, a memory, something you are currently feeling or by simply being present. Sharing is always optional, and you are welcome just as you are. Your tears, your silence, your emotions will all be held with care. This session will also include simple ritual and reflective practices to help us connect more deeply with our grief beyond words. We'll close with a gentle grounding practice to help you carry what we've shared into the rest of your day, and an optional opportunity to take our offerings out into the stone circle for a nature-based grief ritual. The space will be held with beauty and care, including a shared altar space that you can add to, poetry, music, warm herbal teas and a small sweet offering to nourish and comfort. All grief is welcome here – not only for the loss of loved ones, but also for the quieter grief of change, transition, and endings, as well as our collective grief for the world. Whether you're familiar with grief tending or stepping into it for the first time, you will be supported and welcomed just as you are. I want to make this offering accessible, so if finances are a barrier, please do reach out to ask about concessionary places and I will do my best to accommodate, no questions asked.
